Listening to Family and Professional Caregivers in Placitas

Listening to Family and Professional Caregivers from Placitas, Bernalillo, Rio Rancho, Corrales, Jemez, Cochiti, Santo Domingo

The New Mexico Direct Caregivers Coalition wants to hear from family and professional caregivers at:

Las Placitas Presbyterian Church
7 Paseo de San Antonio
Placitas, NM 87043
Saturday, November 16, 2013, 10:00 am - noon

Our statewide coalition wants to hear from caregivers about issues in the workplace, resources you need and solutions you may have, like:

  • Education, training and credentialing
  • JOBS for caregivers
  • Respect and recognition in the workplace
  • Wages and benefits
  • Why you need to sign up for health insurance through the New Mexico Health Insurance Exchange--including Federal subsidies for health insurance--and in spite of what you think you know!

All are welcome! Target audience includes family/unpaid caregivers and professional/wage-earning caregivers serving persons who are elderly and/or those with disabilities; caregiver advocates; agency staff. Care recipients and family members are especially urged to attend.

Brokers and HealthCare Guides will be available to help people make appointments for health insurance and to describe Federal premium subsidies available to caregivers who qualify.

And, New Mexico State Senators Richard Martinez and Carlos Cisneros, and Representatives Debbie Rodella and Tomás Salazar have been invited.

Registration for this event is not required and there is no cost to attend.

NMDCC is coming to your neighborhood! We'll be in Clovis, Silver City, Española, and Carlsbad to talk about the Health Insurance Exchange and Federal subsidies available to caregivers and care recipients who qualify! Let us know HERE if you'd like to host an event in your town.
